Laura Lippman, Charm City (1992)

Tess Monaghan # 2

I first met Tess Monaghan because I fell for the cover of The Girl in the Green Raincoat.

Lovely protagonist – after two novels, I feel like I know her. If you like series like Sue Grafton’s Kinsey Millhone books, you’ll probably love this one also. I have read them out of order but picked up no # 1 recently and plan to fill the gaps whenever I need the company of Tess.

Read, relished and … ahem … reviewed.

Here is my review of What the Dead Know – a fabulous standalone from 2007.

PS: dear blog friends. I tried to have a blog round today, but my internet crawls along at a snail’s pace. Two comments and I’m dead frustrated. See you later.

  1. Margot Kinberg says:

I like the Tess Monaghan character too, Dorte, and I like the solid use of the Baltimore setting in a lot of those novels.

  2. Kelly says:

Well I do like the Grafton series, so I bet I’d like this series, too. I just don’t need to start a new one! I read What the Dead Know last year and enjoyed it, so I know I like her writing.

  3. Margot: I should have said something about the setting … if I hadn’t been too lazy. But I have already started the next book, and I like to finish one review before I begin writing the next one. One review book in my poor head is more than enough 😀

I’m sorry, Kelly. I don’t write my reviews in order to tempt anyone (more than they tempt me, I mean). *mean little laughter*

  4. Care says:

As you may know, I just don’t seem to find much of my reading to be in this genre, but I do enjoy it when I do read it. I just checked goodreads -> yep, I have Lippman on my tbr! so maybe someday.
I’m suffering laptop issues a lot lately, too. SO frustrating.
